When we visited Glass Beach, we had booked accommodation in Mendocino at Glendeven Inn, about 15 minutes drive from Fort Bragg and Glass Beach.
Glendeven Inn is an intimate and romantic little Inn/bed and breakfeast with just 10 rooms, which are furnished with great care. Words like carefully, effort and care are common when describing Glendeven Inn. The hosts have taken great pains to make it a place with an atmosphere where you feel welcome and where you can relax.
We arrived at Glendeven Inn about half past five in the evening, where we were welcomed by the hostess and immediately offered a glass of wine to relax with while we checked in. We were then offered a really nice bowl of soup, that really hit the spot after a long drive.
We were to stay in The Garden Room, which is a sunny and cozy room.
In our room we were welcomed with a delicious piece of chocolate cake and a small bag of feed for chickens. The inn is located on 8 acres of land overlooking the sea. There are various animals on the grounds including llamas and chicken. The chickens roam freely in the garden wich just adds to the atmosphere.
In the evening, wine and a light meal can be enjoyed in the Wine Bar[n]
The breakfast, which was served in our room at 9am, consisted of homemade corn bread, South Western-style baked Glendeven egg, mixed fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee and hot chocolate. It tasted deliciously.
The standard of the room was well above average, the bed and linnen was incredibly comfortable. Organic products in the bathroom, extra towels and bathrobes.
We had a total of 21 nights on our road trip in the US and none of the other places we stayed in were close to the standard of Glendeven Inn. Neither in terms of standard or courtesy. We were really sad that we would only be there one night. It is quite clear that if we come near Mendocino again, then there is only one place we will be staying, and that is at Glendeven Inn. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
